Let's create a Fairy tale

Do you remember all those magical stories from your childhood? It's time to create your own!
There's a page in the OneNote for every step. Please add your work to the right pages.

Step 1: Characters

In your group:

  • Design 2 characters each. A good one and an evil one.

  • Give your character a name.

  • Describe their behaviour.

  • Give your character a special ability.

  • Draw or sketch your character.

Most of the fairy tales you see or read have got an happy ending: 'And they lived happily ever after', right? However, many of the original stories are much more violent, scary, and creepy. In step 1.5 you will research some of these original endings. You can find all the info you need in the Word document on the right. Copy this info to your shared document.

Step 1.5: Happy Endings?

Step 2: Character Roles

Every character needs to play a part in your story.

There are 6 clear options and one bonus option:

Hero, Helper, Villain, Henchman, False Hero, Princess / Prince, and Quest Giver.

  • Research these types of characters. Find three examples of each type, and collect them in a document, showing their role and the story you found them in.

  • Assign your own characters a role for your fairy tale.

  • Use the Word document below and copy the info to your own file.

Step 3: The World

What does the world that your story is set in look like?

  • Find 5 pictures of scenes that you want to use for a story (a castle, a cave, things like that)

Step 4: The Story

Now that we have a set of characters and a world, we can start writing the story. You can write whatever you want, but follow these steps:

  • Title

  • Beginning (once upon a time)

  • The numbers 3/5/7 need to be part of your story.

  • Solve a problem

  • Happy ending (or not, that's up to you).

When you are done writing, add the story your shared document. Make sure that the info for the previous steps is there as well.

Step 5: The Final Product

How are you going to show your final product?

  • Hand in a printed book?

  • Perform a reading-session?

  • Perform a short play?

  • Something else?

  • It's up to you!
